FWC: Annual Wage to increase by at least 4.6%

The Fair Work Commission (FWC) has increased the minimum wages as follows:

 

  • Minimum wages in modern awards will be increased by either:
    • $40 per week (where the current minimum wage is $869.60 per week or less); or
    • 4.6% (where the current minimum wage is greater than $869.60 per week).
  • The national minimum wages for award-free juniors, employees under training arrangements, and employees with a disability have also been increased by 5.2%. 
  • The national minimum wage will be increased by 5.2%, taking it to $812.60 per week or $21.38 per hour.

 

This increase will take effect during the first pay cycle after 1 July 2022

 

This is higher than previous increases of:

 

  • 2.5% in FY 2021/2022
  • 1.75% in FY 2020/2021
  • 3.0% in FY 2019/2020
  • 3.5% in FY 2018/2019
  • 3.3% in FY 2017/2018

The Australian Childcare Alliance NSW will circulate the updated wage tables and the finer details regarding this increase as soon as they are available.
