Waiver of gap fees & 52 Allowable Absence Days

As New South Wales approaches 95% of its eligible population being fully COVID vaccinated, there will still be positive COVID cases as well as where children are regarded as close contacts of COVID cases.

Hence, to support services as we live with COVID, the Federal Government has just announced the following:

  1. Until 30 June 2022, early childhood education and care services will be able to families' gap fees if the service, or part of the service, has to temporarily close due to COVID, or if if a family has been directed to isolate.

  2. A further 10 allowable absence days will be available to families nationally through to 30 June 2022, bringing the total number of allowable absences for FY2021/2022 to 52 days.
