Hundreds of individuals and businesses as far as even Argentina, South Africa and New Zealand (so far) have received this morning (30 July 2018) an e-mail purporting to be from ACA NSW asking for payment.
This e-mail is a scam from a source (based in New York) who is pretending to be the Australian Childcare Alliance (ACA) NSW. Please do not open it or its links.
ACA NSW does not use the accounting system MYOB, nor do we have a staff or former staff named Juliet, nor do we send invoices of such amounts in that fashion.
The e-mail scam and source have been reported to the:
- Australian Cybercrime Online Reporting Network (see link)
- Australian Cyber Security Centre (see link)
- Australian Competition and Consumer Commission's Scamwatch (see link)
- Australian Communications and Media Authority (see link)
We profusely apologise for the stresses and inconveniences caused. And we recommend that you check your computer's anti-virus and spam protection software and filters.
For any further information/clarification, please feel free to contact ACA NSW on 1300 556 330 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
