What is International Children's Book Day?

International Childrens Book Day is an annual celebration of children's literature which aims to encourage children to appreciate literature and develop a love of books and reading. This was the birthday of Danish author Hans Christian Andersen who wrote some best-known children stories such as 'The Ugly Duckling'.
