Doughnut Day

What is Doughnut Day?

National Doughnut Day is celebrated on the first Friday in June each year. This is where individuals celebrate the goodness of the doughnut and honour the Salvation Army Lassies who served doughnuts to soldiers during WWI.

When is Doughnut Day?

Activities:

  • Doughnut Art and Craft: Provide materials for children to create doughnut-inspired art and craft projects. Set up a crafting area with paper plates, paint, markers, and colorful construction paper.
  • Doughnut Decorating Station: Set up a doughnut decorating station where children can unleash their creativity and customize their own doughnuts. Provide plain doughnuts (homemade or store-bought), along with a variety of toppings such as frosting, sprinkles, chocolate chips, shredded coconut.
  • Doughnut Storytime: Read doughnut-themed children's books during story time to celebrate Doughnut Day. Choose books such as "If You Give a Dog a Donut" by Laura Numeroff or "The Donut Chef" by Bob Staake
  • Doughnut toss:  Cut out a large doughnut shape from cardboard and paint it to look like a doughnut: Using bean bags or soft balls to throw into the inside of the doughnut, encourage children to toss from different tossing lines.
