Activities:

  • Toy Drive: Organize a toy drive where children can donate gently used toys, books, or games to children in need. Discuss the importance of sharing with those less fortunate and the joy it brings to both the giver and the recipient.
  • Food Drive: Organize a food drive where families can donate non-perishable food items to a local food bank or shelter. Involve children in sorting and packing the donations, teaching them about hunger and the importance of helping those in need.
  • Random Acts of Kindness: Challenge children to perform random acts of kindness throughout the day, such as sharing toys, complimenting a friend, or helping with chores. Create a kindness chart to track their acts of generosity and compassion.
  • Storytime about Charity: Read age-appropriate books about charity, kindness, and helping others during circle time or Storytime. Discuss the themes of the stories and how children can apply the lessons in their own lives.
  • Thank You Cards for Community Helpers: Have children create thank you cards for community helpers such as firefighters, police officers, or healthcare workers. Deliver the cards to local stations or offices to show appreciation for their service.
