It has come to the attention of ACA NSW that the Fair Work Commission (FWC) increased the Level 1.1 pay rate under the Children’s Services Award due to its review of entry-level wages (C14 and C13 rates) in modern awards on 19 November 2024.
The FWC focused on the need for an adjustment to entry-level wages, which led to an increase for Level 1.1 employees (it would appear).
Consequently, the minimum wage for a Children's Services Employee Level 1.1 for FY2024/2025 was $23.97 per hour and has been increased by 13 cents to $24.10 per hour effective from 1 January 2025.
This change has been updated in the corresponding 2024/2025 Wage Rates as well as the Worker Retention Grant's latest Individual Flexibility Arrangement (IFA). (PLEASE NOTE: You will need your ACA NSW username and password to gain access.)
Please note that this particular review appears to be separate to the familiar annual wage review conducted by the FWC.
Furthermore, this unexpected Award change (of 13 cents) must be implemented in light of the legal change about wage underpayment which also came into effect from 1 January 2025.
