NSW Small Business Commissioner calls for ECEC changes

Today, the NSW Small Business Commissioner called the NSW Department of Education to reduce the complexity for small businesses in the early childhood education and care sector.

Of interest, the Commissioner's report recommended the following (amongst many more):

  • the independent review of the assessment and ratings process (see Recommendation #5)
  • the consistency of ratings (see Recommendation #4)
  • the immediate review of the benefits of the higher staff ratio requirements (see Recommendations #1 & #7)
  • the adoption of staff-break provisions (see Recommendation #2)
  • the neutral treatment for for-profit ECEC providers (see Recommendation #14)

ACA NSW appreciates the NSW Small Business Commissioner's report as much of it supports, confirms and validates the advocacies of ACA NSW.

ACA NSW will continue advancing its advocacies to the NSW Government and the NSW Parliament, seeking the necessary improvements for the benefit of all children, parents and early childhood education and care services.
