
What is World Blood Donor Day?
World Blood Donor Day is celebrated annually to raise awareness of the imporatance of blood donating and how many lives have and could be saved and to thank all the voluntaries for their unpaid blood donation out of good will and taking time to save lives.
When is World Blood Donor Day?
Wednesday, 14 June
Activities:
- Providing relevant information to your parents of the importance of donating blood per annum and how many lives cab be saved from one unpaid blood donation and their closest blood banks to encourage family and their friends to get involved in the great cause.
- Intentional teaching: Discussion with preschoolers the importance of blood donation:
- how many lives can be saved from infants to children, adults and elderly
- Why blood is donated i.e. to help the ill
- how many lives are saved year to year
- Learning about our bodies; how it works and and discussing important blood facts 'Where does blood come from?'
