What is World Mental Health Day?
World Mental Health Day is an international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. It was first celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health, a global mental health organization with members and contacts in more than 150 countries.
When is World Mental Health Day?
Monday, 10 October
Activities:
- Discussing emotions and feelings - through stories, flashcards, puppet shows
- Telling the children they can always talk to youe about their emotions and how they're a feeling.
- Inviting the children to participating in yoga, mediation and join in bird and cloud watching.
- Educators to ensure they're using positive words:
- I can see you’re really trying!/ Keep on trying!
- You almost got it! / I can see you tried hard / I’ll bet you knew you could do it!
- I appreciate your help / Thanks for helping make this a good day!
- You’re really giving that your best! / That’s really creative.
- I believe in you / I trust you.
