This year ALL Australians are called to DO the right thing by not littering from their car and to report anyone seen doing so.

What is Keep Australia Beautiful Week? 

Keep Australia Beautiful Week is held late August each year to raise awareness about the simple things we as a community can all do in our daily lives to reduce our impact on the environment and encourage action.

This year we will be focusing on

How to participate

Keep Australia Beautiful Week 20230 will focus on the three main ways we can reduce and recycle some of the goods we’re using more of these days:

  1. How to protect you and your loved ones without the cost to our planet

  2. How to keep good hygiene practices that don’t cost the Earth

  3. How to reduce and recycle the single-use consumables from takeaway food and drinks

When is Keep Australia Beautiful Week?

From Monday 07 to Sunday 13 August

Activities:

  • Rubbish Sort Activity - Identify what item is disposed in general waste and recycling bin
  • Creating a recycling corner where children can bring in recycling items and material which can be reused
  • Interntional Teaching - Sustainabity:
    • Saving energy - turning lights off when no in use (Maximise the use of natural light and ventilation throughout the day)
    • Place signs near all light switches, air conditioners and power points to act as reminders to turn off when not needed
    • Adding a compose outside in your vegetable garden
    • Planting a vegetable garden for the service to grow their own produce
  • Make kites and fly them as a tool to discuss wind energy
  • Make a windmill and discuss the direction of the wind throughout the day
  • Learn and discuss about static energy – children rub a balloon on their hair and use the charged energy to pick up small bits of paper

What is Daffodil Day?

The Daffodil Day Appeal is Cancer Council’s most iconic and much-loved fundraising campaign. It is a day for Australians to give hope to those affected by all cancers by donating to support a cancer free future.

When is Daffodil Day?

Thursday, 31 August

Activities:

  • Come dressed in yellow and donate a gold coin (https://www.daffodilday.com.au/fundraise-at-school)
  • Arts and Crafts - Invite babies and toodler to create a daffofil with preschoolers
  • Arts and Crafts - Invite preschoolers to create a daffofil windmill with preschoolers
  • Have a raffle for familiy and asking small local business to donate to create hampers and vouchers for families to enter and win. Money raised to be donated to the Cancer Council Daffodil Day fund raiser.
