Members' input sought for child safety changes to laws, regulations etc

We invite you to join our live and online consultation sessions on the governments' child safety reforms

Following the Review of Child Safety Arrangements under the National Quality Framework, a variety of regulatory and non-regulatory changes have been introduced, focusing on strengthening child safety, transparency, educator training, and service provider accountability. These reforms demonstrate a shared national commitment to safeguarding children, while ensuring that all children have access to safe, high-quality education and care.

Australia’s State and Federal Education Ministers are now moving forward with a new set of (7) child safe reforms and consultation is open – we are now seeking sector feedback on implementation and other important considerations.

  1. Supervision practices, including under the roof ratios

  2. Increasing transparency for families

  3. Persons with management or control (PMC) fitness and propriety

  4. To whom suspension, supervision and training directions apply and related information sharing provisions

  5. Increase whistleblower protections

  6. Updating quality ratings for Approved Providers during/immediately following an investigation

  7. Safer fencing

It is in this context that we invite ACA NSW members and/or your senior staff to attend one of ACA NSW's live online consultation sessions to share your important thoughts and operational perspectives in order to help shape the detail of the upcoming implementation and potential future reforms.

Together we will go through the seven proposed reform areas in detail, asking you whether you support each item and seeking your feedback on the reasons behind your responses.  We estimate each session will take up to 2 hours in order to have meaningful discussions around each reform area.

We would greatly appreciate your participation, as it will assist ACA NSW and ACA National’s public response in shaping the policy, and informing the Australian and State Governments to shape them effectively.

To get an idea of the extent of the online discussion, you can read a copy of the slides we will go through here.

We look forward to seeing you and hearing your views.

If you are unable to attend any of these discussions, you can still lodge your say via our online survey here.

For any further information/assistance, members can contact the ACA NSW team via 1300 556 330 or nsw@childcarealliance.org.au.
