As of the 1 August 2018 staff working in early Childhood services are entitled to 5 days of unpaid leave to deal with matters regarding family and domestic violence.

This new leave entitlement is listed in the Children's Services Award 2010 under Clause 28.

In the Award, it states some of the following information:

  1. Definitions of what is family and domestic violence and who this pertains to
  2. This leave is also availabe for casuals
  3. This leave does not accumulate year to year
  4. The time they have off does not break their continuity of service
  5. Must give notice to employer
  6. Must give evidence of needing to take the leave
  7. Employer must ensure confidentiality
