Reportable Conduct Scheme to be transferred to the NSW Office of the Children's Guardian

Beginning 1 March 2020, NSW's Children's Guardian Bill will bring together existing legislation under one Act in relation to child protection. The new Act will enable the Office of the Children's Guardian to be more independent and responsive. The Office of Children's Guardian will also be responsible for the Reportable Conduct Scheme beginning 1 March 2020.

The NSW Ombudsman’s Reportable Conduct Inquiries Line will cease to be operational from 4 pm on Thursday, 20 February 2020. E-mail and telephone communication will no longer be functional from 4 pm, Friday, 21 February 2020. Notwithstanding, the NSW Ombudsman will operate an unmanned Emergency Contact Line – (02) 9286 0910 during 21-28 February 2020.

The Office of Children's Guardian will be conducting free information sessions from March 2020 about these changes and how these will affect child-related organisations.
