What is Father's Day?

Father’s Day is celebrated annually to honour the importance fathers, and father figures play in the family as a protector. This day is dedicating to show our love and gratitude, and to make them feel special for their love, guidance and contributions to families and society.

  • Father's Day Cards: Provide children with craft supplies like coloured paper, markers, stickers, and glue to make homemade Father's Day cards. Encourage them to write or dictate messages expressing their love and appreciation for their dads.
  • Storytime: Read books about fathers and their children during circle time or Storytime. Choose stories that celebrate the bond between fathers and their kids and encourage discussion about what makes their own dads special.
  • Cooking or Baking: Plan a cooking or baking activity where children can make simple treats or snacks to give to their dads. Ideas include decorating cookies, making personalized cupcakes, or assembling snack bags with Dad's favourite treats.
  • Special Breakfast or Snack: Prepare a special Father's Day breakfast or snack for children and their dads to enjoy together. This could include pancakes, fruit skewers, or a DIY yogurt parfait station, providing a delicious start to their day.
  • Craft Workshop: Set up a craft workshop where children can make gifts or crafts for their dads. Provide a variety of materials and instructions for making keychains, bookmarks, picture frames, or other handmade treasures.
  • Memory Book: Create a Father's Day memory book with the children, featuring photos, drawings, and handwritten messages. This collaborative project will be a heartfelt gift that fathers can cherish and look back on for years to come.
