What is International Space Week?

International Space Week is a weeklong celebration of space and science, celebrating significant milestones in space history, encouraging people to learn more about space. Educational activities and events are organised to promote space awareness and encourage in interest in space.


When is International Space Week?

Friday, October 4 - 10 


Activities: 

  • Space Dress Up: set up a space dress up with different costumes and encourage the children to use their imagination and pretend they’re on a space adventure
  • Build a rocket: provide the children with different materials e.g. cardboard boxes, aluminium foil, and craft supplies, and encourage the children to work together to build a rocket ship
  • Sky Art: provide the children with black cardboard, and using chalk or glow in the dark paint, encourage them to create their own starry night
  • Space books: gather around and read books about space
  • Space slime: make galaxy themed slime using glue, liquid starch or saline solution and coloured glitter. Encourage the children to play with the galaxy slime.
