COVIDready: Latest Update as of 30 January 2022

Earlier this morning, the NSW Government announced its "JobSaver 2.0" package to support businesses that have been negatively impacted by COVID.

Similar to the previous JobSaver package, ACA NSW understands that the anticipated official portal and processe to claim the payments of 20% of payroll will be for:

  • eligible services with an annual turnover of at least $75,000 and a maximum of $50m; and
  • services with a turnover decline in January 2022 of at least 40% and/or an anticipated decline in turnover in February 2022 of at least 40%.

There will also be rebates for (small) services who need to purchase Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) via an expansion of the NSW Government's Small Business Fees and Charges program. Eligible services will be those having a payroll of under $1.2m, and the maximum available rebates will be raised to $3,000 and can be be used for purchasing RATs.

Other recent changes also include:

  • the notification by employers to SafeWork NSW still applies for those employees who contracted COVID and have been hospitalised before 20 January 2022; and
  • the exemption of early childhood education and care workers who had a previous COVID positive result can return to work to the service during the 7-day isolation period if s/he has a COVID negative RAT result, but this exemption no longer applies to children from 24 January 2022.

The following key ACA NSW webpages about COVID have therefore been updated for members' easy reference:
