After years of fighting on behalf of our ACA NSW members, ACECQA has finally seen the light and will now publish the date a rating was issued for a service!

As far back as 2012, far too many ACA NSW members have been completely frustrated when they receive a poor rating (eg “Working Towards”) published by ACECQA only to then wait for 12 months or more before they can be re-assessed due to the NSW Department of Education not having sufficient resources. The real risks of bearing poorer ratings despite having improvements not re-assessed until sometime later are the concerns of existing and prospective families having their children at those services, and the devaluing of the worth of their businesses.

This new change by ACECQA to publish the date of its rating is a significant improvement because any fair-minded reader will now understand that those services are likely to have improved their services even though they haven’t had their re-assessments yet.

This is also in addition to the NSW Department of Education having introduced a faster process of re-assessments (see ACECQA Service Re-Assessment and Re-Rating).

For years, NSW President Nesha Oneil Hutchinson and former CEO Brianna Casey had fought hard for these improvements. These represent great achievements for our members.
