At the recent Retreat Weekend on 10-12 November 2017 conducted by the Australian Childcare Alliance NSW, NSW Shadow Minister for Early Childhood Education, Kate Washington MP (ALP) and NSW Member for Newtown, Jenny Leong MP (Greens) were facilitated by Georgie Dent and discussed the issues of:
- childcare oversupply
- childcare undersupply
- increasing childcare fees
- labour shortages
- risks to childcare affordability
- over-regulation and
- the unintended effects of government policies and processes on children, families and childcare operators.
NSW Minister for Early Childhood Education, the Hon Sarah Mitchell MLC, sent her apologies as she is on maternity leave. And Federal and NSW Liberal/National Parliamentarians were invited to participate on this Parliamentary Panel Discussion.
