On 4 September 2019, the NSW Minister for Education and Early Childhood Learning, the Hon Sarah Mitchell MLC, clarified the NSW Coalition Government's out-of-school-hours-care (OSHC) plans to begin 2021.

Basically, the NSW Coalition Government originally promised OSHC services at every public school but has come to realise that demand is different from school-to-school and hence OSHC services, whether they are on public school grounds or not, have to be on a case-by-case basis.

Consequently, the NSW Government is continuing its consultation with parents across Australia. This is through a census via https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/basc which will close on 28 October 2019.

The Australian Childcare Alliance NSW would encourage early childhood education and care services who currently or plan to offer OSHC to engage with this census, as well as encourage your parents to do the same.

Your input will help the NSW Government plan for appropriate resourcing of OSHC services whether they are on public school grounds or provided by an approved early childhood education and care service provider.
