UPDATE: Negatively affected LDCs from NSW’s “free preschool” funding

On 30 March 2021, the Australian Childcare Alliance (ACA) NSW had published the results of an initial group of 263 services who had been negatively affected by the NSW Government’s “free preschool” funding for 2021. (NOTE: These services self-identified via a quick 3-week survey.)

A consequent meeting was held with the NSW Department of Education on 29 April 2021. And in the context of governments, that was a speedy first response by the NSW Government to ACA NSW’s concerns.

The NSW Department of Education appears interested in wanting case studies from long daycare services who have been negatively affected by their “free preschool” funding for 2021, so that they can better understand the issues and consider possible solutions.

To that end, ACA NSW has drafted a template (download here) for negatively affected services to use. In confidence, services can then submit their case studies to ACA NSW (via nsw@childcarealliance.org.au) no later than Friday, 14 May 2021. ACA NSW will then present them to the NSW Department of Education.
