What does Arabic Language Day?

The theme of World Arabic Language Day 2023 will be "Arabic - the Language of Poetry and Arts".

Arabic Language Day celebrates and raises awareness for the importance of language, cultural diversity and multilingualism around the world each year. 

This day reminds us the importance of different languages spoken around the world, culture and it's history is learnt and remains to not fade out.

When is Arabic Language Day?

Monday, 18th December 

Activities:

  • Learning how to say hello and basic words in the Arabic language (Learn Arabic for Kids - Numbers, Colors & More - Rock 'N Learn)
  • Hosting an incursion with a Arabic speaking teacher to teach and introduce the children to the culture, songs and tradition. 
  • Displaying the world map and learning about a different country each day; their language, traditional clothings, foods and culture.
  • Inviting the children to come dressed in traditional clothing from around the world and sharing what they do as a family and the language their family speak at home.
  • Setting out cultural diversity children books in book corner for the children to read, learn and ask questions.
  • Identify the Arabic flags and discuss what each colour represents. 
  • Learning and listening to songs made in arabic and learning their cultural dance. 
  • Invite children to participate in cooking experience making simple Middle Eastern recipes.

What is World Children’s Day?

World Children's Day 2023 is celebrated annually on the 20th November to improve child welfare worldwide, promote and celebrate children's rights and promote togetheress and awareness amongst all children.  

When is International Children's Day?

Monday, 20 November

Activities: 

  • Teach the children about World Children's Day and encourage them to share their ideas and demands for a better future.
  • Teach the children about children in other communities and around the world to dicuss their livelihood and lifestyle.
  • Make the day fun and invite the children to come dressed in something Blue and have a dance party!
  • Allow the children to share how they would like the room set out for the day with their favourite acitvities of their choice. 
  • Host a picnic at your local park for lunch.

International Day of Charity

 

What is International Day of Charity?

International Day of Charity was introduced by the United Nations in 2012. This day is to raise awareness around the world to do not have easy access essentials, not as fortunate of others.  

This choice commemorates the tireless work that Mother Teresa did by devoting her whole life to charity work.

When is International Day of Charity?

Tuesday, 5 September

Activities:

  • As a centre select a Charity to raise funds or donate food, essentials and very day supplies to Charities that distribute to members of our community who are less fortunate. 
  • Ask your children and families to donate unwanted clothes, toys and other essentials and donate to the St Vincent de Paul - https://www.vinnies.org.au/page/Donate/Donate_Goods/

What is National Pyjama Day?

National Pyjama Day is a day to raise awareness and raise funds for children in foster care. The event is participated in many communities such as schools, early childhood services and even workplace.

When is National Pyjama Day?

Friday, 21 July

Activities:

  • Encourage the children to come dressed in their pyjamas for the day and donating a gold coin
  • Register your centre in hosting a Pyjama Day at your service: https://www.nationalpyjamaday.com/get-involved
  • Learn the importance of how much sleep a person needs and the effects it can have on our bodies.
  • Host a Pyjama Dance party in your service during movement time
  • Have a Pyjama Day Photobooth for the children
  • Read children's stories about pyjama, bedtime and dreaming:
    - Lama Lama Red Pajama
    - Pajama Time 
    - The Going-To-Bed Book
  • Invite the children to engage in making Starry night painted toast
  • Hosting a pyjama movie time - where the children and rug up in their blankets and watch an educational movie.

International Asteroid Day

 

What is International Asteroid Day?

International Asteroid Day is an annual global event that raises aweareness about asteroids, what they do and discover new ideas on how to save our planet, people and future generations from a catastropic event.

When is International Asteroid Day?

Friday, 30 June

Activities:

  • Class project: Creating your own solar system display and learning about the solar syster and which planet we live on. 
  • Discusing on how we can save our planet and implementing into your centre i.e turning off lights when not in use, recycling paper etc. 
  • Reading stories to the children to extend their knowledge about what an asteroids are and what type of impact it can have on our planet.
