What is Human Rights Day?

Human Rights Day commemorated the day when the UN adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, promoting and celebrating the rights and freedom of all people regardless of their face, religion, gender etc. This day reminds us of the struggle for human rights around the world, and how important it is to ensure equality for all.

Activities: 

• Story: read age-appropriate books which emphasise themes of equality, diversity, and human rights
• Cultural exploration: explore different cultures and traditions around the world emphasising the importance of diversity
• Brainstorm: gather with the children and brainstorm what Human Rights Day is, and how we can be more inclusive with the diverse cultures in the centre
  
• Reflection and discussion: reflect with the children on what they have learnt throughout the day, sharing their thoughts and feelings
