What is World Music Day?

World Music Day is an international celebration of music. People come together to enjoy and appreciate the power music has in our every day lives. It is a great opportunity for everyone to come together to share and listen to different kinds of music.

Activities:

• Musical Instrument Exploration: Set up a musical instrument exploration station where children can explore different instruments from around the world. Provide instruments such as drums, shakers, xylophones, and tambourines.
• Music and Movement: Lead a music and movement activity where children can dance and move to the rhythm of different songs
• Create Musical Crafts: Provide materials for children to create musical-themed crafts, such as making homemade shakers or tambourines using recycled materials.
• Sing-Along Circle Time: Gather the children in a circle and lead a sing-along session with songs from different cultures and genres.
• Guest Musician Visit: Invite a local musician or music teacher to visit the childcare centre and share their expertise with the children. They can perform live music, demonstrate different instruments, or teach simple songs or rhythms.
