NSW Small Business Commissioner invites more input from ECEC sector

ACA NSW and ACA NSW members have had a long working relationship with the NSW Small Business Commissioner. As an independent voice, the Commissioner is a strong supporter of and advocate for small businesses.

The NSW Small Business Commissioner (Chris Lamont) wants to ensure he understands the challenges and experiences of NSW's early childhood education and care sector. He is again seeking feedback from Approved Providers so that he and his team can ensure the best possible research and advocacy on our behalf.

You can provide feedback by completing a survey and/or participating in a workshop:

Thanks to previous consultations with ACA NSW members, the NSW Small Business Commissioner was able to:

  • advocate to the NSW Department of Education to seek improved outcomes on small businesses from feedback on challenges and experiences of the industry;

  • advocate to include NSW annual childcare regulatory charges and fees to be included in the NSW Government's Small Business Rebate initiative;
  • produce two submissions representing small business perspectives to NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment ‘Review of the Education SEPP 2017’ and the Commonwealth's Education Council for the National Quality Framework Review;

  • facilitate Training Skills NSW in the development of the Early Childhood Bridging Pilot Program to help provide a pathway to address staffing, experience and qualification shortages in NSW; and

  • inform the NSW Productivity Commission on childcare and regulatory reform issues.
