There has been quite some controversy over the NSW Department of Education's proposal to introduce their new star ratings that are scheduled to begin on 1 July 2020 in their effort to increase parents' awareness of the service's ratings.

NSW star rating 600x

The Australian Childcare Alliance (ACA) NSW responded on Sunday, 24 November 2019 of its concerns about the NSW Department of Education's new star ratings, especially when ACA NSW is adamant that assessments and ratings of NSW-based services have been conducted inconsistently and with an unnecessarily high level of subjectivity. ACA NSW has since been in discussions with the NSW Department of Education with the view of addressing and resolving these issues.

ACA NSW has been advised by the NSW Department of Education on 10 December 2019 that their star rating would not be required to be placed at the front door of services but still expects its display to still be in a prominent location in accordance with Regulation 173(d).
