What is Arabic Language Day?

Arabic language day is celebrated each year to promote multilingualism and cultural diversity.  The day celebrates the Arabic language’s history, literature, and contributions to society. This day raises awareness of the importance of language diversity and encourages the use of Arabic as one of the six official languages of the United Nations.

Activities: 

  • Arabic Music and Dance: Play Arabic music and teach children simple dance moves inspired by traditional Arabic dances such as the dabke or belly dancing.
  • Cooking Class: Prepare and taste traditional Arabic dishes with the children, such as hummus, falafel, or baklava.
  • Storytelling Circle: Gather children in a circle and take turns telling stories or sharing personal experiences related to Arabic language and culture.
  • Community visitor: Invite a parent or someone form the community to come to the childcare service and read a story in the Arabic language to the children.
