Ash Wednesday

What is Ash Wednesday?

Ash Wednesday is the first day in the season of Lent, a liturgical season observed by all Christians. The season is a time to reflect on Jesus' sacrifice for us, preparing for the Easter season. Throughout this period of time, Christians reflect on the 40 days that Jesus spent in the desert by praying, fasting and taking part in daily devotional activities. Christians go to church on Ash Wednesday and have the sign of the cross marked in ash on their foreheads signifiying the beginning of their Lentern season.
