What is Bastille Day?

Bastille Day is the French national holiday which commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789 during the French revolution. This marks the birth of the French Republic. Generally, parades, fireworks and festivals occur across France.

Activities:

  • French Flag Craft: Provide materials such as coloured paper, crayons, and glue for children to create their own French flags.
  • French Food Tasting: Set up a tasting station with popular French foods such as croissants, cheese, baguettes, and fruit tarts.
  • Eiffel Tower Building: Use building blocks or craft materials to create miniature Eiffel Towers with the children. Discuss the significance of the Eiffel Tower as a symbol of France and Paris.
  • Story Time: Read a story that are French-themed, introduce French Culture, landmarks, or historical events.
  • Dance Pary:  Play French music and encourage children to dance to the different cultured music and rhythm.
