National Tree Day occurs annually in Australia organised by Planet Ark. Individuals and communities come together and plant trees and shrubs to improve the environment.

Activities: 

  • Nature Walk: Take children on a nature walk to explore the natural environment and identify different types of trees.
  • Group Time: Have a discussion with the children’s trees, encourage children to share characteristics of trees and discuss the importance of trees in providing food, shelter, and oxygen.
  • Art and Craft: Encourage children to use their creativity to make tree collages, leaf rubbings, or nature-inspired painting.
  • Story Time: Read stories to the children that are related to trees such as "The Lorax" by Dr. Seuss or "A Tree is Nice" by Janice May Udry.
  • Tree Care and Maintenance: Provide children with watering cans and gardening tools and encourage children to water plants, trees and maintain their garden in their outdoor environment.
