LANTITE examinations to be conducted at the start from 2023 onwards

For some time now, members of the Australian Childcare Alliance (ACA) NSW had been asking for the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) to be conducted at the beginning of the teachers' Initial Teacher Education Programmes and not at the end.

On 15 December 2020, the Education Council (ie all Education Ministers of the Federal Government, States and Territory Governments) announced that

"Ministers considered the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE)
Scoping Study and agreed to provide further flexibility to initial teacher education students.
From 2023, people who are planning to enrol in an initial teacher education course
will have the opportunity to sit the LANTITE test before they commence their studies."

Please note that the policy change request from ACA was for the LANTITE test to be conducted at the beginning (and not the end) of the Initial Teacher Education Programmes as soon as practicable.
