Some clarification from the NSW Department of Education about ACECQA's proposed changes to Assessments & Ratings

ACA NSW thanks the NSW Department of Education for being the first to broadcast some clarification on 6 December 2022 in relation to ACECQA's announcement of its proposed changes to assessments & ratings.

We formally shared a list of concerns with in particular the NSW Department of Education and the NSW Minister for Education & Early Learning, especially in the context of the worsening labour shortages.

Members will recall ACA NSW's concerns especially with the following statements by ACECQA:

  1. “a shift to a shorter notice period of 1-5 days for most assessment and rating visits”; and
  2. “Approved providers should ensure an up-to-date QIP (or Self-Assessment Working Document in NSW) is uploaded to the National Quality Agenda IT System portal or via any other jurisdiction specific submission process.”

In the NSW Department of Education's broadcast, they stated that "... there are no imminent changes to assessment and rating in NSW". Moreover, the NSW Department of Education will engage firstly with the sector through various forums in February and March 2023 as well as prior to their own roadshows.

(NOTE: ACA NSW members may wish to note the ACA NSW Inner Circle event on 27 February 2023.)
