World Storytelling Day

What is World Storytelling Day?

World Storytelling Day celebrates the art of oral storytelling. The day celebrates the creation of a bonding environment, the opportunity to reminisce and connect our past to our present, strengthen creativity and encourage visualisation. 


When is World Storytelling Day?

Wednesday, 20 March 


Activities:

  • Brainstorm the children's favourite stories to read. Write the name of each book on a piece of paper and place it in a jar. Ask the children to select a piece of paper from the jar and as a class, read the story together. Add props to engage and entertain the children.
  • Share a story that can also be shared through a song expand the children's vocabulary e.g. Goldilocks and The Three Bears
  • Build a story. Go around in a circle and encourage the children to add to the story
