250 ECT Students for Placement across NSW

Southern Cross University (SCU) have 250 pre-service teachers in need of expressions of interest from early childhood education and care services who can help them complete their practicums.

This placement is with children aged 3-5 years old. And the placement dates are from Monday, 8 May 2023 to Friday, 1 June 2023.

Please check if your ECEC service's postcode is on the SCU provided list of NSW postcodes and available ECT students for placement.

Remuneration:

The participating ECEC service will receive $35.97/day/student for the Supervision of the Pre-Service Teacher, and $1.78/day/student for the Coordination of Placement.

Requirements for the participating ECEC service:

1. A qualified Early Childhood Teacher must take the role of Mentor Teacher for the placement or at least oversee the placement and write the final report for the Pre-Service Teacher.
2. The service must be open 5 days a week for a minimum of 7.5 hours per day.
3. The service must be rated as "Meeting" or higher in their Quality Rating.

Support during placement:

An SCU Advisor will make contact (via telephone/e-mail) with the Approved Provider (or nominee), Mentor Teacher and Student Teacher during the professional experience placement to provide support.
