World Bee Day

What is World Bee Day?

World Bee Day raises awareness about the importance of bees and the role they play in carrying pollen from one flower to another, essential for making fruits, vegetables, and flowers. People come together to learn about bees and how we can help them.

When is World Bee Day?

Monday, May 20

Activities:

  • Bee Life Cycle Exploration: Teach children about the life cycle of bees through hands-on exploration. Provide materials such as pictures, models, or books showing the stages of a bee's life
  • Beehive Construction Craft: Engage children in a creative craft activity where they can make their own miniature beehives. Provide materials such as cardboard boxes, construction paper, tissue paper, and paint. Guide children in decorating and assembling their beehives
  • Honey Tasting and Sensory Experience: Create a sensory experience centered around honey to engage children's senses and teach them about the importance of bees in producing honey. Set up a tasting station with different types of honey for children to sample, along with crackers or bread for tasting. Provide honeycomb for children to touch and explore its texture.
  • Art and craft: Encourage children to draw or paint their own bee using colouring pencils, glitter, crape paper and more
  • Story time: Read a story to the children relating to bees.
