World Food Day

What is World Food Day?

World food day is celebrated annually, raising awareness to eliminate poverty, hunger, and malnutrition, and emphasise equal access to food and water while raising awareness about food-related issues.

Activities: 

  • Breakfast station: organise a healthy breakfast station which includes fruits, crackers, cheeses, and yoghurts. Encourage the children to assemble their own breakfast plate
  • Taste test challenge: blind fold children and encourage them to taste different healthy foods and guess what it is
  • Garden planting: encourage the children to plant their own fruits and vegetables in the garden
  • Food collage: encourage the children to cut food out of magazines and create a collage of all the foods they found
  • Cooking class: organise a simple and healthy cooking class for the children to prepare a nutritious snack or meal
  • Food waste awareness: discuss the importance of reducing food waste, and how to minimise food wastage
